Ms. Nouri Yaseen Qaed Asaad Taher \u200e<\/strong>was awarded a Master\u2019s Degree with distinction in International Development and Gender, <\/strong>taught in English,\u200e for her thesis titled: Economic Incentives for Urban Rainwater Harvesting as a Climate Change Adaptation Strategy in Sana\u2019a City, Yemen<\/em><\/strong>, <\/em>which was submitted to the Inclusive Development Research Center \u2013 Sana\u2019a University. The MA defense was held on Sunday, May 17, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The thesis aimed to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Examine the role of economic incentives in promoting Urban Rainwater Harvesting (URWH) as a sustainable adaptation strategy to address water scarcity and the impacts of climate change in Sana\u2019a City.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • The study indicated an urgent need for targeted economic incentives such as subsidies, tax exemptions, and microfinance schemes to encourage household and community participation in rainwater harvesting systems.<\/li>\n
    • It also emphasized the importance of integrating economic mechanisms into broader climate adaptation and urban water management policies.\u200e<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:\u200e<\/p>\n

        \n
      • The study proposed policy recommendations aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and scalability of rainwater harvesting practices in line with Sustainable Development Goal 6: \u201cClean Water and Sanitation for All,\u201d while strengthening long-term urban resilience in Yemen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        The defense session was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, colleagues, and the researcher\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
