The effectiveness of the virtual (mock) trial

Within the framework of the activities of the Center for Studies on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons, and at the conclusion of the introductory training course program on international asylum law that the Center implemented for students of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Sana’a University.

Under the patronage and supervision of His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Ahmed Ali Al-Emad, Director of the Center, a virtual (mock) trial event was held today, Sunday, February 25, 2024, in which a realistic simulation of two virtual cases related to asylum application cases took place.

The activity was carried out by fourteen male and female students from the College of Sharia and Law. They demonstrated the extent to which they benefited from knowledge of the provisions of international asylum law, linking this to the procedural rules for the process of submitting and deciding asylum applications and the procedures for judicial cases to cancel decisions that include the rejection of asylum applications. The students’ performance was outstanding.

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saad Nejad, Dean of the College of Sharia and Law, and from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Ms. Somaya Al-Bashari, a number of faculty and staff members at the center and college, and a group of students.
