Political and Strategic Studies Center (PSSC)
Establishment
The Political and Strategic Studies Center (PSSC) was established by the University Rector’s Decision No. 12 in 2008. However, the activities of the PSSC did not officially commence until December 2011.
Location:
PSSC is located in the Centers Complex Building, on the second floor, south of the Teaching Staff Housing Complex in the New Campus of the University.
Areas of Focus:
(Educational, Research, and Training)
The PSSC contributes to addressing the economic, social, and environmental issues of society by actively fulfilling its role in alignment with the university’s mission and its three goals: teaching, research, and community service. This can be achieved through the continuous engagement of the PSSC’s teaching staff with all aspects of societal dynamics at various levels. By doing so, the PSSC will actively participate in discussing relevant societal issues, providing valuable insights and solutions through diverse research methods, and disseminating scientific expertise to the different segments of society through training and other means.
Moreover, the PSSC will remain updated on the latest developments in its specialized field and contribute additional insights that its researchers identify as having the potential to enrich their area of expertise. Furthermore, the PSSC is expected to play a significant role in supporting the transformation of Sana’a University into an exemplary productive university model.

PSSC Director’s Message
The Republic of Yemen is currently undergoing a significant shift in its development approach, which places a strong emphasis on effectiveness, efficiency, accelerated development, and improved standards for monitoring and implementing development programs. This approach is clearly reflected in the National Vision for Building the Modern Yemeni State 2030, which greatly influences the planning of development institutions in Yemen. Higher education institutions, in particular, are now tasked with the national responsibility of aligning their plans with this developmental approach outlined in the National Vision. The objective is to enhance the outcomes of higher education and elevate them to a global level, with the aim of having five Yemeni universities ranked among the best in the Arab world.
This vision has been translated into the strategic plan of Sana’a University for the period 2022–2026, which has guided the strategic direction of the university’s 28 research centers. The university’s vision and strategic plan have provided a roadmap to address the challenges associated with education that hinder meeting the needs and requirements of development.
The PSSC is embarking on a new chapter of continuous development and modernization. It aims to respond rapidly to environmental changes through a strategic direction. In line with the university’s strategic plan, the PSSC has prepared its vision, mission, values, and strategic aims for the future.
The PSSC’s strategic direction is driven by the following aims:
- Contributing to the realization of the national vision for building a modern Yemeni state, particularly in the realm of higher education.
- Contributing to addressing the current challenges faced by the university.
- Collaborating in achieving the university’s strategic goals.
- Fulfilling the aspirations of students seeking to pursue postgraduate studies.
This strategic direction is characterized by its open-door policy, inviting PSSC members to propose new initiatives. These proposals will be carefully evaluated, and those deemed beneficial will be incorporated into the PSSC’s overall strategy. This approach ensures that the PSSC continuously evolves and adapts to meet the needs of future generations, providing students with the support and encouragement they need to unleash their creativity and embody the principles of education, knowledge, and scientific research.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the leadership of Sana’a University, led by the university rector, as well as the entire academic and administrative staff.
In conclusion, we have gained valuable insights from the experiences of those who have preceded us in developing strategic directions for their institutions, especially research centers. We have also been guided by the best practices at the local, regional, and international levels.
We humbly beseech Allah to shower His blessings upon this strategic direction, bringing prosperity to the university, PSSC, our students, and all those who benefit from the services provided by the PSSC. May Allah guide us to the right path and grant us success.
