PhD Degree Awarded to Mr. Ammar Al-Raimi in Business Administration

Mr. Ammar Ali Hamoud Al-Raimi was awarded a PhD degree in Business Administration for his dissertation titled: Interactive Impact of Implementing Joint Commission International Standards and Administrative Control Practices on the Improvement of Healthcare Service Quality: A Field Study on Selected Yemeni Hospitals, which was submitted to the Center for Business Administration at Sana’a University. The dissertation defense was held on Monday, July 7, 2025.
The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The study aimed to explore the interactive impact of implementing Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation standards alongside the practice of administrative control in improving the quality of healthcare services in Yemeni hospitals.
The study yielded several significant findings as follows:
- A statistically significant interactive effect exists between JCI standards and administrative control in improving healthcare service quality.
- This interactive impact was specifically observed in preventive and executive controls, while result-based control did not show a statistically significant interactive effect.
- Implementing JCI standards has impact on the improvement of healthcare service quality.
- Practicing administrative control also has impact on enhancing service quality in hospitals.
- No statistically significant differences in service quality levels were found based on organizational variables.
The study concluded with several key recommendations as follows:
- Hospitals should work to enhance the level of implementation of JCI accreditation standards.
- Hospitals should continuously work on strengthening administrative control by developing administrative control infrastructure and updating relevant policies and practices, in alignment with international standards.
The defense dissertation was attended by fellow researchers, academics, colleagues, interested professionals, and members of the researcher’s family.
