Master’s Degree Awarded to Ms. Hanaa Ismail Rawiya in Islamic Comparative Jurisprudence

Ms. Hanaa Ismail Ahmed Rawiya was awarded a Master’s Degree in Islamic Comparative Jurisprudence with an average of Excellent (First-Class Honors) and a grade of (95) for her thesis titled: Diya Dhawi Al-Absar fi Al-Kashf Aan Adillat Masail Al-Azhar by Scholar Ahmed Mohammed Salah Al-Sharafi (d. 1055 AH) – From the Beginning of Marriage Chapter of to the End of Breastfeeding Chapter: A Critical Study and Investigation, which was submitted to the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts and Humanities – Sana’a University. The MA defense was held on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The study aimed to:
- Introduce the Scholar Ahmed Mohammed Salah Al-Sharafi
- Bring to light the manuscript “Diya Dhawi Al-Absar fi Al-Kashf Aan Adillat Masail Al-Azhar” with focus on Marriage chapter.
- Enrich the Islamic library with this valuable work in comparative jurisprudence.
The study yielded a number of key findings summarized as follows:
- The vast knowledge of the Scholar Ahmed Mohammed Salah Al-Sharafi (may Allah have mercy on him) and his profound mastery of multiple fields of knowledge.
- The Scholar Ahmed Mohammed Salah Al-Sharafi was one of the most prominent scholars of the tenth Hijri century.
- The book “Diya Dhawi Al-Absar fi Al-Kashf Aan Adillat Masail Al-Azhar” along with its Marriage chapter constitutes a comprehensive reference for rulings related to personal status matters.
In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:
- Recognizing that critical editing is a great scholarly endeavor of eminent scholars, and therefore manuscripts should be brought out from the libraries in which they have long been buried into practical reality for study and benefit.
- Paying greater attention to manuscripts, particularly those related to jurisprudence and its principles.
- Establishing an electronic platform for publishing edited manuscripts and other scholarly works.
The defense session was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, colleagues, and the researcher’s family.
