PhD Degree Awarded to Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Ahmed Al-Khazzan in Criminal Law

Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Ahmed Al-Khazzan was awarded a PhD degree in Criminal Law for his dissertation titled: Criminal Confrontation of Crimes Affecting the National Economy under Yemeni Law, which was submitted to the Faculty of Sharia and Law – Sana’a University. The dissertation defense was held on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The dissertation aimed to:
- Examine the nature of economic crimes and assess their impact on the national economy.
- Analyze the existing legal framework governing the prosecution of such crimes in Yemen.
- Identify the challenges and obstacles facing the effective enforcement of relevant laws.
The researcher recommended the following:
- Strengthening the legislative framework by updating anti-corruption and economic crime laws to keep pace with contemporary developments.
- Enhancing the capacities of judicial and law enforcement bodies in combating economic crimes.
The dissertation defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, and specialists, students, colleagues, and the researcher’s family.
