Master’s Degree Awarded to Ms. Ma’reb Al-Dumaini in Orthodontics

Ms. Ma’reb Abdullah Hasan Al-Dumaini was awarded a Master’s degree in the major of Orthodontics for her thesis titled, “Risk Prediction of Maxillary Canine Impaction Among 9–12-Year-Old Yemeni Children: A Radiographic Study,” which was submitted to the Department of Orthodontics, Paediatric, and Preventive Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry- Sana’a University. The defense was held on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The study aimed to evaluate the factors of risk prediction of maxillary canine impaction among Yemeni children aged (9–12 years) using panoramic radiographs.
The study reached several important findings, the most significant of which are:
- The mean position of maxillary canines among Yemeni children falls within a satisfactorily safe range.
- The risk of maxillary canine impaction is relatively low in Yemeni children within this specific age group.
The study concluded with several important recommendations, most notably:
- Pay special attention to angular measurements and the positions of sector locations (II, III, and IV) when utilizing panoramic radiographs.
- Implement awareness campaigns to educate parents about the importance of early dental evaluations during the mixed dentition period.
- Conduct longitudinal studies to assess the long-term outcomes of early radiographic predictions.
The study was examined and recommended by the MA Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance and approval. The defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, and interested individuals, in addition to the candidate’s colleagues and family members.
