PhD Degree Awarded to Mr. Saber Iskandar Mohammed in Education Foundations

Mr. Saber Iskandar Mohammed Othman was awarded a PhD degree in Education Foundations for his dissertation titled: A Proposed Framework for Developing University Education Programs for Students with Disabilities in the Republic of Yemen in Light of Contemporary Educational and Professional Trends, which was submitted to the Department of Education Foundations, Faculty of Education – Sana’a University. The dissertation defense was held on Monday, November 17, 2025.
The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The study primarily aimed to propose a framework for developing university education programs for students with visual and hearing disabilities in the Republic of Yemen, in line with contemporary educational and professional trends.
The study yielded a number of key findings summarized as follows:
- The first domain, the current reality of university education programs for visually and hearing-impaired students in Yemeni universities, received a low agreement level, with a mean score of 2.49 and a standard deviation of 0.819.
- The second domain, the requirements for developing university education programs for visually and hearing-impaired students, received a very high agreement level, with a mean score of 4.30 and a standard deviation of 0.617.
- The third domain, the challenges facing the development of university education programs for visually and hearing-impaired students, received a high agreement level, with a mean score of 4.19 and a standard deviation of 0.594.
In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:
- Conducting research to measure the effectiveness of assistive technologies and modern tools in educating and training visually and hearing-impaired students at Yemeni universities.
- Conducting research to assess the role of Yemeni universities in developing higher education programs for students with disabilities in light of contemporary educational and professional trends.
- Studying the role of Yemeni universities in promoting the economic and social empowerment of students with disabilities.
- Conducting research on the preparation and training of faculty members on how to develop university education programs for students with disabilities in accordance with modern educational and professional approaches.
The dissertation defense was attended by faculty members, researchers, students, colleagues, and the researcher’s family.
