PhD Degree Awarded to Ms. Samah Abdulrahman Ismail in Educational Administration and Planning

Ms. Samah Abdulrahman Ismail Al-Ghaili was awarded a PhD degree in Educational Administration and Planning for her dissertation titled: Transformational Leadership and Its Relationship to Job Performance in Yemeni Universities in Light of Institutional Excellence Principles, which was submitted to the Department of Educational Administration and Planning, Faculty of Education – Sana’a University. The dissertation defense was held on Monday, December 1, 2025.
The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The study primarily aimed to identify the dimensions of transformational leadership and examine their relationship with job performance in Yemeni universities within the framework of institutional excellence principles. It also sought to assess the extent to which these dimensions are applied in Yemeni higher education institutions.
The study yielded a number of key findings summarized as follows:
- The degree of application of transformational leadership dimensions in Yemeni universities was assessed by the study sample as moderate when viewed through the lens of institutional excellence.
- Job performance in Yemeni universities and the overall state of institutional excellence were also rated as moderate.
- No statistically significant relationship between the idealized influence dimension and community service as a component of job performance in Yemeni universities was observed.
- There was a positive, statistically significant relationship between the inspirational motivation dimension and community service.
In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:
- Strengthening the dimensions of transformational leadership by organizing training programs that promote leadership culture among university personnel.
- Enhancing the application of idealized influence in line with institutional excellence principles.
- Giving greater attention to improving job performance within this framework.
The dissertation defense was attended by faculty members, researchers, students, colleagues, and the researcher’s family.
