Master’s Degree Awarded to Ms. Reema Shakeeb Ahmed Qasem in Arabic Language (Rhetoric)

Ms. Reema Shakeeb Ahmed Qasem was awarded a Master’s Degree in Arabic Language (Rhetoric) with an average of Excellent and a grade of (95) for her thesis titled: Persuasive Discourse in Al-Fara’id wa Al-Qala’id by Abu Al-Hussein Mohammed ibn Hasan Al-Ahwazi (d. 436 AH), which was submitted to the Department of Arabic Language, Faculty of Languages – Sana’a University. The MA defense was held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The study aimed to uncover the persuasive structure of the discourse in Al-Fara’id wa Al-Qala’id.
The study yielded a number of key findings summarized as follows:
- The discourse in Al-Fara’id wa Al-Qala’id was identified as distinctively persuasive, grounded in an integrated system of language, syntactic structure, imagery, rhythm, and context.
In light of these findings, the researcher recommended:
- Encouraging further research on Arabic literary heritage through the lens of modern rhetoric (New Rhetoric).
The defense session was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, colleagues, and the researcher’s family.
