Master’s Degree Awarded to Ms. Elham Mohammed Ghaleb in Translation

Ms. Elham Mohammed Abdu Saeed Ghaleb was awarded a Master’s Degree in Translation with an average of excellent and a grade of (95) for her thesis titled: Challenges of Translating Conceptual Metaphors in Economic Texts from English into Arabic by Senior Translation Students at the Faculty of Languages, Sana’a University, which was submitted to the Department of Translation, Faculty of Languages– Sana’a University. The MA defense was held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The study aimed to identify the challenges faced by fourth-level translation students when translating conceptual metaphors in economic texts from English into Arabic, from the perspectives of both students and instructors.
The study yielded a number of key findings summarized as follows:
- 33% of students’ translations were inaccurate.
- 07% were less accurate across all types of metaphors.
- Only 14.07% were accurate.
In light of these findings, the researcher recommended:
- Incorporating the topic of metaphor in economic texts and its translation strategies into translation course curricula.
- Increasing practical translation hours between English and Arabic for students.
The defense session was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, colleagues, and the researcher’s family.
