PhD Degree Awarded to Mr. Yousef Abdulaziz Abdulmaghni in Computer and Information Science

Mr. Yousef Abdulaziz Taher Abdulmaghni was awarded a PhD degree in Computer and Information Science for his dissertation titled: Cross-Layer Based Fuzzy Logic Design for Quality-of-Service Support in Wireless Multimedia, which was submitted to the Computer and Information Technology Center, Faculty of Computer and Information Science – Sana’a University. The dissertation defense was held on Monday, January 19, 2026.
The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:
| # | Committee Members | Designation | Position |
| 1 | Prof. Adnan Yahya Ahmed Al-Mutawakkil | Internal Examiner | Chair |
| 2 | Prof. Sharaf Abdulhaq Mahyoub Al-Hamadi | Main Supervisor | Member |
| 3 | Assoc. Prof. Ibrahim Abdullah Ahmed Al-Sermi | External Examiner | Member |
The dissertation aimed to enhance Quality-of-Service (QoS) requirements for multimedia applications in wireless networks by designing an intelligent system that integrates cross-layer techniques with fuzzy logic.
The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:
- The proposed approach enabled intelligent and flexible control of wireless network resources to support time-sensitive applications.
- The developed model effectively overcame some limitations of traditional models.
- The overall performance efficiency of the network was significantly improved.
In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:
- Adopting intelligent adaptive methodologies in managing resources of wireless sensor
- Generalizing the application of artificial intelligence principles to improve wireless network protocols.
- Continuing to exploit cross-layer design in next-generation network research.
The dissertation defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, and specialists, students, colleagues, and the researcher’s family.
