PhD Degree Awarded to Mr. Ameen Saleh Hamoud Al-Khatami in Islamic Comparative Jurisprudence

Mr. Ameen Saleh Hamoud Saleh Al-Khatami was awarded a PhD degree in Islamic Comparative Jurisprudence for his dissertation titled: Proof by Recording and Imaging: A Comparative Jurisprudential Study, which was submitted to the Department of Comparative Jurisprudence, Faculty of Sharia and Law – Sana’a University. The dissertation defense was held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:
- Islamic Sharia demonstrates remarkable flexibility regarding methods of proof in cases involving transactions and financial matters.
- The Yemeni Evidence Law No. (21) of 1992 does not keep pace with technological developments
In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:
- Establishing clear standards to determine the validity of recordings as evidence and prevent tampering.
- Ensuring that the use of recordings does not violate individuals’ privacy and personal integrity rights.
