Master’s Degree Awarded to Ms. Salwa Abdullah Mohammed

Ms. Salwa Abdullah Mohammed Al-Ward was awarded a Master’s Degree with an average of excellent and a grade of (95) for her thesis titled: Civilizational Building in Light of the Holy Qur’an: A Thematic Study, which was submitted to the Department of Qur’an and Its Sciences, Faculty of Education – Sana’a University. The MA defense was held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The thesis aimed to:
- Establish the concept of construction and civilization from a Qur’anic perspective.
- Identify the foundations of civilizational development and the factors for its continuity in light of the Holy Qur’an.
- Reveal the causes of the collapse of previous civilizations as presented in the Qur’an.
The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:
- The concept of civilization in the Qur’an is not merely material development; rather, it is an integrated system encompassing spiritual, doctrinal, moral, social, and practical dimensions.
- The foundation of individual reform—the building block of society—is sound belief and firm faith.
- Righteous deeds constitute the broad field for the builders of civilization.
In light of these findings, the researcher provided the following clinical recommendations:
- Integrating Qur’anic civilizational concepts into educational curricula.
- Promoting knowledge, righteous action, productivity, scientific research, and practical development among individuals and institutions.
The defense session was attended by a number of professors, researchers, students, colleagues, and the researcher’s family.
