PhD Degree Awarded to Mr. Abed Abdullah Hassan Hadi in Social Work

Mr. Abed Abdullah Hassan Hadi was awarded a PhD degree in Social Work (Community Organization) for his dissertation titled: The Effectiveness of Field Training Program and Its Impact on Enhancing Performance of Social Workers in the Capital Secretariat–Sana’a, which was submitted to the Department of Social Work, Faculty of Arts and Humanities –Sana’a University. The dissertation defense was held on Saturday, June 17, 2026.
The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The dissertation aimed to:
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the field-training program in the Department of Social Work.

- Identify the challenges that limit the quality and effectiveness of field training.
- Develop a proposed framework for improving the program and aligning it with labor market requirements.
The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:
- The field-training program demonstrates a high level of effectiveness in achieving its objectives and instilling professional values, although it suffers from deficiencies in the training environment and material resources.
- Ethical and value-based competencies represent the strongest aspect of social workers’ professional performance.
- There is a noticeable gap between theoretical instruction and practical application, accompanied by limited academic supervision visits and a shortage of specialized training institutions.
- The study developed a comprehensive framework for improving field training, which received broad support from students, graduates, and faculty members.
The dissertation defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, and specialists, students, colleagues, and the researcher’s family.
