Mr. Basheer Ameen Mohammed Radwan <\/strong>was awarded a PhD degree in Information Technology <\/strong>for his dissertation titled: Three Dimensional Mobility for Multi-UAV Assisted Multi-access Edge Computing<\/em><\/strong>, which was submitted to the Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Computer and Information Technology, Sana\u2019a University. The dissertation defense was held on Saturday, July 26, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:<\/p>\n

The Study aimed to investigate the impact of mobility and urban environments on data offloading to airborne edge computing via drones.<\/p>\n

The researcher conducted extensive simulations involving 160 urban environments to assess the impact of mobility and urban environments on task offloading latency, using both directed and undirected antennas.<\/p>\n

The Study yielded several key findings, including:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Quantifying user sojourn time within the coverage zones of UAV-based edge computing stations.<\/li>\n
  • Determining line-of-sight probability using statistical and analytical methodologies.<\/li>\n
  • Developing mathematical models that can serve as input for planning processes of next-generation wireless networks (5G and 6G).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The researcher concluded his dissertation with several key recommendations, including:<\/p>\n

    • Employing the sojourn time models derived in this study for planning future networks to mitigate the computational complexity caused by mobility simulations.<\/li>\n
    • Utilizing these models to reduce task offloading failures and handover delays, thereby contributing to lower operational costs in next-generation wireless infrastructure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The dissertation defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, colleagues, and the researcher\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
