Mr. Abdulmalek Abdo Saleh Zaid <\/strong>was awarded a Master’s degree in the major of linguistics for his thesis titled “Transformational Phenomena in Surah An-Nisa<\/strong>,” which was submitted to Department of Arabic Language, Faculty of Languages – Sana’a University. The defense was held on Thursday, October 16, 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The study aimed to:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Link Arabic Grammar (Nahw) with Transformational Theory and its applications within the Holy Qur’an.<\/li>\n
  • Enrich linguistic studies through the examination of transformational phenomena in Surah An-Nisa<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Key findings<\/strong> of the study include:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • The concept of Transformation is deeply rooted in Arabic Grammar (Nahw).<\/li>\n
    • Ellipsis<\/strong> is a transformational phenomenon, and the recovery of the omitted elements depends on both linguistic and rhetorical rules.<\/li>\n
    • The study demonstrated transformational phenomena in general structures and in both nominal and verbal sentences.<\/li>\n
    • The conditions and motivations for transformation are tied to preventing ambiguity, the presence of a textual clue indicating the omitted element, and the consideration of meaning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The study strongly recommended<\/strong> studying Chomsky’s Transformational Theory in details, free from bias towards a specific national linguistic heritage.<\/p>\n

      The study<\/strong> was examined and recommended by the Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance<\/strong> and approval<\/strong>. The defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, interested individuals, in addition to the candidate\u2019s colleagues and family members.<\/p>\n
