Ms. Nabiha Ali Mohammed Al-Hammadi<\/strong> was awarded a PhD degree for her dissertation titled, \u201cThe Role of Social Media Networks in Enhancing Information Awareness among Postgraduate Students at Sana’a University<\/strong>,\u201d<\/em> which was submitted to Department of Libraries and Information Science<\/strong>, Faculty of Arts and Humanities<\/strong> \u2013 Sana\u2019a<\/strong> University. The PhD dissertation defense was held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following members:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

This study aimed to <\/strong>investigate the actual role of social media networks in enhancing information awareness among postgraduate students at Sana’a University.<\/p>\n

The study <\/strong>reached several important findings<\/strong>, the most significant of which are:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • The study sample confirmed the importance of social media networks in supporting research and academic activities.<\/li>\n
  • Respondents preferred using library-specific social media networks to obtain information.<\/li>\n
  • The study revealed that the majority of the sample viewed obtaining information in their field of specialization as the main goal of their social media usage.<\/li>\n
  • The research affirmed the significance of both social media networks and search engines in supporting scientific research and higher education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The study <\/strong>presented several key recommendations<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n

    • Encouraging the use of social media and search engines to support scientific research and higher education.<\/li>\n
    • Utilizing social media networks to promote academic events and activities.<\/li>\n
    • Enhancing the role of social media networks in supporting the research and academic activities of students and researchers.<\/li>\n
    • Promoting balanced engagement in social media usage among users.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The PhD dissertation<\/strong> was examined and recommended by the Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance<\/strong> and approval<\/strong>. The PhD defense<\/strong> was attended<\/strong> by a number of academics, researchers, interested students, the candidate\u2019s colleagues, and family members.<\/p>\n
