Mr. Salah Al-Deen Nagm Al-Deen Mani\u2019 Al-Emad <\/strong>was awarded a Master’s degree in the major of zoology with an average of (Excellent<\/strong>) and a grade of (94%<\/strong>) for his thesis titled “The Prevalence of Zoonotic and Infectious Diseases in Livestock Exported from the Horn of Africa Quarantine Stations to Yemen<\/strong>,” which was submitted to Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science – Sana’a University. The defense was held on Saturday, October 4, 2025<\/strong>, corresponding to Safar 25, 1447 <\/strong>Hijri.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following members:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The thesis aimed to<\/strong> investigate the prevalence of Brucellosis (Malta Fever)<\/strong>, Rift Valley Fever (RVF)<\/strong>, and Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD)<\/strong> in livestock exported to Yemen from international quarantine stations in Djibouti and Somalia<\/strong>. The thesis also sought to evaluate the role of animal quarantine facilities in mitigating the risks of transboundary animal diseases.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Among the key findings<\/strong>, the thesis concluded that Brucellosis, Rift Valley Fever, and Foot-and-Mouth Disease pose a moderate to low risk in livestock exported from the Horn of Africa to Yemen.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The thesis presented several key recommendations<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Strictly enforcing comprehensive quarantine procedures<\/strong> within the official, accredited quarantine stations for all livestock exported from the Horn of Africa to Yemen.<\/li>\n
  • Implementing the same comprehensive procedures<\/strong> by the competent Yemeni authorities for all imported livestock upon arrival in Yemen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

     <\/p>\n

    The thesis<\/strong> was examined and recommended by the Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance<\/strong> and approval<\/strong>. The defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, interested individuals, in addition to the candidate\u2019s colleagues and family members.<\/p>\n
