Mr. Fatehi Ahmed Nasser Ibrahim Al-Dhubaibi <\/strong>was awarded a PhD degree in Educational Psychology\u2013Measurement and Evaluation <\/strong>for his dissertation titled: A<\/em><\/strong> Comparison between Item Response Models in Estimating the Parameters of a Test Bank for the Educational Measurement and Evaluation Course and Its Scaling among Students<\/em> at Sana\u2019a University<\/em><\/strong>, which was submitted to the Department of Educational Psychology, Faculty of Education \u2013 Sana\u2019a University. The dissertation defense was held on Thursday, November 13, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:<\/p>\n

The study primarily aimed to compare item response models in estimating the parameters of an item bank for the Educational Measurement and Evaluation course and scaling it among Sana\u2019a University students.<\/p>\n

The study yielded a number of key findings summarized as follows:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Item parameters, person parameters, and test information functions were estimated for the test forms constituting the item bank using one\u2011parameter, two\u2011parameter, and three\u2011parameter item response models, based on both experimental and simulated samples.<\/li>\n
  • No statistically significant differences were observed in the estimation of individuals\u2019 ability parameters across the one\u2011parameter, two\u2011parameter, and three\u2011parameter models attributable to model type.<\/li>\n
  • Scaling the test forms of the item bank using the one\u2011parameter model proved to be the most appropriate and accurate approach for the experimental sample data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Selecting the most appropriate item response model that best fits data.<\/li>\n
    • Establishing a Measurement and Evaluation Center at Sana\u2019a University, similar to those in other Arab and international universities.<\/li>\n
    • Developing item banks for academic courses in the faculties of Sana\u2019a University based on item response theory models.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The dissertation defense was attended by faculty members, researchers, students, colleagues, and the researcher\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
