Ms. Kafaa Salem Haider Mohammed \u200e<\/strong>was awarded a Master\u2019s Degree in Economics <\/strong>with an average of excellent and a grade of (93) <\/strong>for her thesis titled: The Impact of Asymmetric Information on the Automobile Insurance Industry in Yemen<\/em><\/strong>\u200e<\/em><\/strong>, <\/em>which was submitted to the Faculty of Commerce and Economics \u200e\u2013 Sana\u2019a University. The MA defense was held on Saturday, January 17, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The study aimed to investigate the impact of asymmetric information on the Automobile Insurance Industry in Yemen.\u200e<\/p>\n

The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Asymmetric information, in both its forms\u2014adverse selection and moral hazard\u2014\u200ehas a negative impact on the Automobile Insurance Industry in Yemen.\u200e<\/li>\n
  • The study demonstrated a strong, statistically significant positive relationship between \u200ethe annual premium amount (as the dependent variable) and the amount of paid \u200ecompensation, the number of insured vehicles, and the number of accidents, while \u200ethe relationship with the value of vehicles involved in accidents was not \u200estatistically significant, as these were treated as independent variables.\u200e<\/li>\n
  • The phenomenon of asymmetric information was found to be more pronounced in the \u200eindividual motor insurance sector compared to group motor insurance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Based on these findings, the researcher recommended the following:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Undertaking comprehensive reform of the institutional and regulatory structure of the \u200emotor insurance market in Yemen by restructuring the supervisory and technical \u200eframework governing this market.\u200e<\/li>\n
    • Strengthening disclosure requirements in individual insurance policies by obliging \u200eclients to provide accurate data on the nature of vehicle use, the number of \u200edrivers, and driving behavior, while encouraging group insurance through \u200einstitutions and organizations to achieve better risk distribution.\u200e<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The defense session was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, colleagues, and the researcher\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
