Mr. Fayez Saleh Ahmed Hadran <\/strong>was awarded a PhD<\/strong> degree in Islamic Creed and Thought <\/strong>for his dissertation titled: The Contributions of Imam Majd Al-Deen bin Mohammed Mansour Al-Mu\u2019ayyadi and Their Impact on Islamic Thought<\/em><\/strong>, which was submitted to the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts and Humanities\u2013Sana\u2019a University. The dissertation defense was held on Sunday, May 17, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:<\/p>\n

The dissertation aimed to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Examine the scholarly and practical contributions of Imam Majd Al-Deen Al-Mu\u2019ayyadi and their influence on Islamic thought, as well as his efforts in defending and promoting Islamic creed and thought.<\/li>\n
  • Highlight Al-Mu\u2019ayyadi\u2019s intellectual and doctrinal engagement against opposing currents, through which he established, clarified, and corrected concepts while challenging beliefs that contradicted the oneness of God.<\/li>\n
  • Explore Al-Mu\u2019ayyadi\u2019s significant role in preserving and clarifying authentic Qur\u2019anic and Prophetic thought and creed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:<\/p>\n

    • Imam Majd Al\u2011Deen Al\u2011Mu\u2019ayyadi was a distinguished scholar of his era in knowledge, ethics, and struggle, characterized by profound scholarship and diverse intellectual expertise.<\/li>\n
    • Al\u2011Mu\u2019ayyadi is regarded as one of the most prominent figures in shaping contemporary Zaydi doctrinal identity in Yemen, and served as a major scholarly authority and representative of the Zaydi School in modern times.<\/li>\n
    • Al\u2011Mu\u2019ayyadi played an important intellectual and reformist role following the establishment of the Republic, preserving Zaydi thought and contributing to the formation of a political framework that enabled the Zaydi community to maintain cohesion for decades.<\/li>\n
    • Al\u2011Mu\u2019ayyadi\u2019s family background, environment, and broad engagement with multiple disciplines contributed significantly to the maturity of his doctrinal and intellectual perspectives.<\/li>\n
    • Al\u2011Mu\u2019ayyadi\u2019s creed was rooted in the teachings of Ahl al\u2011Bayt, whose principles, efforts, and mission were unified and consistent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:<\/p>\n

      • Giving greater attention to Imam Al\u2011Mu\u2019ayyadi\u2019s doctrinal and intellectual heritage, given its rich discussions, debates, and scholarly works addressing diverse theological and intellectual issues.<\/li>\n
      • Supporting and preserving his scholarly, educational, and intellectual project through official bodies, academic institutions, and relevant organizations.<\/li>\n
      • Allocating his intellectual and doctrinal contributions an appropriate place in shaping future generations.<\/li>\n
      • Documenting the lives and contributions of such influential figures to ensure their enduring impact on scholarship and community identity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        The dissertation defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, and specialists, students, colleagues, and the researcher\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
