Mr. Abed Abdullah Hassan Hadi <\/strong>was awarded a PhD<\/strong> degree in Social Work (Community Organization) <\/strong>for his dissertation titled: The Effectiveness of Field Training Program and Its Impact on Enhancing Performance of Social Workers in the Capital Secretariat\u2013Sana\u2019a<\/em><\/strong>, which was submitted to the Department of Social Work, Faculty of Arts and Humanities \u2013Sana\u2019a University. The dissertation defense was held on Saturday, June 17, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:<\/p>\n

The dissertation aimed to:<\/p>\n

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the field-training program in the Department of Social Work.<\/li>\n
  • Examine its impact on enhancing the professional performance of social workers.<\/li>\n
  • Identify the challenges that limit the quality and effectiveness of field training.<\/li>\n
  • Develop a proposed framework for improving the program and aligning it with labor market requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:<\/p>\n

    • The field-training program demonstrates a high level of effectiveness in achieving its objectives and instilling professional values, although it suffers from deficiencies in the training environment and material resources.<\/li>\n
    • Ethical and value-based competencies represent the strongest aspect of social workers\u2019 professional performance.<\/li>\n
    • There is a noticeable gap between theoretical instruction and practical application, accompanied by limited academic supervision visits and a shortage of specialized training institutions.<\/li>\n
    • The study developed a comprehensive framework for improving field training, which received broad support from students, graduates, and faculty members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The dissertation defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, and specialists, students, colleagues, and the researcher\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
