Mr. Taha Hassan Ahmed Al-Wadhaf <\/strong>was awarded a PhD<\/strong> degree in Arabic Language Curriculum and Teaching Methods <\/strong>for his dissertation titled: Effectiveness of a Program Based on Constructivist Learning Strategy in Developing Functional and Creative Written Expression Skills among Basic Education Students in the Capital Secretariat\u2013Sana\u2019a<\/em><\/strong>, which was submitted to the Department of Arabic Language Curriculum and Teaching Methods , Faculty of Education\u2013Sana\u2019a University. The dissertation defense was held on Thursday, May 21, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:<\/p>\n

The dissertation aimed to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Develop a list of functional written expression skills that should be cultivated among eighth-grade students in basic education.<\/li>\n
  • Develop a list of creative written expression skills that should be cultivated among the same group of students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • There were statistically significant differences at the 0.05 significance level between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the post-test of functional written expression skills in favor of the experimental group, attributable to the proposed program based on the 7E\u2019s Learning Cycle Strategy.<\/li>\n
    • There were statistically significant differences at the 0.05 significance level between the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group in functional written expression skills, in favor of the post-test, reflecting the effectiveness of the proposed program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Giving equal attention to the development of both functional and creative written expression skills among basic education students, as both contribute significantly to the enhancement of critical thinking and free expression.<\/li>\n
      • Providing greater attention to writing expression classes by the Ministry of Education and emphasizing the importance of written expression in students\u2019 lives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        The dissertation defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, and specialists, students, colleagues, and the researcher\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
