Water and Environment Center Organizes Training Course on “Building a Researcher Identity” and Enhancing Academic Presence

The Water and Environment Center organized this morning a training course entitled “Building a Researcher Identity,” delivered by Dr. Amira Ali Al-Harithi, Assistant Professor of Biotechnology and Microbiology, with the support of the University’s General Administration for Scientific Research and the Faculty of Science.
The course aimed to raise awareness of the importance of building a researcher’s academic identity and developing their scholarly presence on specialized academic platforms, thereby enhancing the visibility of their scientific output, expanding the reach of their research, and strengthening their engagement with the academic and research community.
The course addressed several topics related to digital platforms for scientific research, particularly Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and ORCID, introducing their roles in building researchers’ academic profiles, documenting their scientific output, linking their publications and research work, and strengthening their academic presence.
It also explored mechanisms for creating and updating researchers’ profiles and ways of monitoring and benefiting from research metrics, as well as highlighting the importance of building scholarly networks and communicating with researchers across various disciplines. Such networks can open new avenues for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and identifying opportunities for research partnerships.
The course featured active participation and engagement from attendees, who discussed a number of topics related to building a research identity, making optimal use of academic platforms, and leveraging digital tools to enhance researchers’ academic presence and scientific output.
The course was organized as part of the Water and Environment Center’s efforts to support researchers and those interested in scientific research, develop their skills, and provide training programs that contribute to advancing research practices and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous scientific development.
At the end of the course, the Center affirmed its commitment to continuing to implement training programs and activities aimed at building researchers’ capacities, supporting scientific research, and strengthening the presence of Sana’a University and its researchers within academic and scientific communities and platforms.
