Welcome to the Water and Environment Center (WEC) at Sana’a University.

We are proud to introduce to you this important national center, which has contributed and continues to contribute to the advancement of the water and environment sector in Yemen by providing expertise, knowledge, applied research, and creative initiatives towards solving water and environmental problems in the Republic of Yemen.

With its distinguished academic staff, educational outputs, and professional research endeavors, the WEC stands as the leading center of expertise on a national scale, particularly in water resource management, water and sanitation services in urban and rural areas, as well as the environmental sector.

The Center has made significant contributions to the resilience of the resource and service sectors throughout Yemen, spanning the breadth of the nation. The graduates of the WEC now hold influential positions and leading roles within government bodies, international organizations, and local authorities nationwide.

However, we recognize that our efforts thus far are insufficient, and we remain fully committed to the pursuit of sustainable water resources, adequate water and sanitation services, and the revitalization of Yemen’s environmental sector, which currently faces neglect, stagnation, and severe deterioration.

The researchers and postgraduate students (MA and PhD) at the WEC serve as the driving force behind Yemen’s water and environmental sectors, combating the issue of water sector specialists’ departure outside the sector or outside the country.

We extend a warm invitation to you to join us on our journey of environmental transformation, contributing to the preservation of water resources, conservation of biodiversity, and the sustainable management of natural resources in Yemen.
