Doctoral program in Integrated Water Resources Management

The Water and Environment Center at Sana’a University represents a cornerstone of national efforts to address the growing challenges in the water and environment sectors. It is one of the most prominent specialized academic and research centers in Yemen. As part of its strategic vision to promote sustainable development, the Water and Environment Center offers a unique doctoral program in “Integrated Water Resources Management,” the first of its kind in Yemen.
This advanced program has been carefully designed to prepare an elite group of engineers, scientists, and policy analysts capable of effectively contributing to the development of integrated water resource management policies and strategies. The program focuses on equipping students with the skills to analyze policies, assess resources, and design innovative solutions that balance economic and social development with the sustainability of ecosystems. This program is a practical response to the acute shortage of qualified personnel in the field of integrated water resources management, particularly in light of the unprecedented water and environmental challenges Yemen has faced over the past two decades. Through this program, the center has opened up broad horizons for master’s degree holders from various related disciplines, both inside and outside Yemen, to pursue postgraduate studies and contribute to building a strong national scientific base. The program is based on a solid academic experience, as the center has previously successfully implemented Ten Batches of the Master’s program in Integrated Water Resources Management in English. These programs were developed in partnership with prestigious academic institutions such as IHE and Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, and Cairo University, and subject to continuous updating, Reflecting the center’s commitment to providing education trusted and with high quality standards.
Today, the Water and Environment Center is a leading academic and research platform, contributing to the development of scientific leaders capable of shaping a more water-secure and environmentally sustainable future for Yemen. Through its upcoming website, the center opens its doors to the world to showcase its programs, research, and partnerships, embodying Sana’a University’s commitment to its national and regional role in serving water and environmental issues. A PhD program in Integrated Water Resources Management has also been developed and course specification was prepared at the Water and Environment Center (WEC) based on national, regional and international references. Based on the above, the Center takes this opportunity to establish and open “PhD in Integrated Water Resources Management” program.

Mission of PhD program
