The Water and Environment Center (WEC) at Sana\u2019a University organized an academic activity today for the eleventh cohort of Master\u2019s students, featuring a scientific simulation of negotiations over the Grand Renaissance Dam (GRD) between Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia. The activity was held as part of the educational program of the Center\u2019s Master\u2019s degree studies.<\/p>\n

During the event, students were divided into groups, each representing one of the parties concerned with the Nile River water issue. The simulation included rounds of in-depth academic discussions supported by scientific evidence and quantitative data, during which participants presented the differing perspectives of each party. The discussions also drew on legal arguments derived from international law and relevant international agreements governing water rights, as well as issues related to the construction, filling, operation, and maintenance of the dam.<\/p>\n

The discussions witnessed rigorous academic debate among the groups, with each party defending its water, sovereign, legal, and developmental rights. The exercise was conducted in an academic setting aimed at enhancing students\u2019 analytical, negotiation, and scientific discussion skills, while deepening their understanding of transboundary water resources management.<\/p>\n

A number of specialized academics participated in the activity as evaluators, providing scholarly feedback and assessments of the discussions, thereby enriching the students\u2019 learning experience and contributing to the development of their research and analytical capacities.<\/p>\n

This activity forms part of the Water and Environment Center\u2019s ongoing efforts to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application, and to prepare qualified professionals capable of analyzing contemporary water issues and addressing them from a scientific and professional perspective.<\/p>\n
