CCTLT Holds Workshop on “Challenges of Translating into Arabic: Common Language Errors” ‎

Under the auspices of the University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, the Community Center for Translation & Language Teaching (CCTLT) organized an intensive workshop titled “Challenges of Translating into Arabic: Common Language Errors.” The workshop was aimed at the Center’s team of translators and trainee students as part of the Center’s ongoing efforts to improve the professional skills of its translation staff. ‎
The workshop was inaugurated by the Head of the Translation Unit, Dr. Faisal Al-Dawli, who welcomed the participants and the trainer, Ms. Riham, and expressed his appreciation for their attendance and active engagement. ‎
The workshop comprised both theoretical and practical components. The trainer provided a detailed overview of common linguistic errors made by Arab translators when translating texts from English into Arabic. She explained the nature of these errors, relevant grammatical and orthographic rules, and the underlying reasons behind the frequent occurrence of such mistakes. The theoretical segment was followed by practical exercises, including question-and-answer sessions, hands-on activities, and a written assessment. ‎
The workshop concluded in the presence of the Center’s Director, Prof. Ibraheem Tagaddeen, who expressed his appreciation to the participating translators for their engagement. He reaffirmed the Center’s commitment to regularly organizing similar workshops, given their importance in improving translators’ performance and enhancing their professional skills and the quality of translation services offered by the Center. The Deputy Director, Dr. Yahya Obaid, and the Head of the Translation Department, Dr. Abdulwadood Annuzaili, were also in attendance and extended thanks to the organizers and the trainer. ‎
At the close of the workshop, participants expressed their gratitude to the trainer and the Center for organizing the workshop, emphasizing its value in strengthening their linguistic competencies and enhancing their ability to produce accurate and high-quality Arabic translations. ‎
