Sana’a – November 11, 2024
As part of its efforts to serve the community through training and qualifying translation students from Yemeni public and private universities, the Community Center for Translation and Language Teaching (CCTLT) hosted a field visit on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, corresponding to Jumada Al-Akhirah 9, 1446 AH. The visit included 28 female students from the Translation Department at the University of Science and Technology (UST), accompanied by Dr. Iman Al-Sharjabi, Head of the English Language and Translation Department at UST. The students were received by Prof. Ibraheem Tagaddeen, the Director of the Center; Dr. Yahya Obaid, the Deputy Director; Dr. Abdulwadood Annuzaili, Head of the Translation Department; Dr. Faisal Al-Dawli, Head of the Translation Unit; and Ms. Sumaya Al-Sumayni, Head of the Training and Qualification Unit.
During the visit, the students gained insights into the practical aspects of translation, drawing on the experiences of the Center’s translators at the Center’s Translation Unit. They participated in short workshops focused on hands-on training in modern translation techniques and methods. Additionally, the students were introduced to various types of documents translated at the Center, the challenges faced by translators, common translation errors, and strategies for addressing issues encountered during the translation process.
It is worth mentioning that the CCTLT regularly conducts training and professional development courses for students specializing in translation and languages. These courses aim to equip translators with the skills needed for the labor market across diverse fields of translation and language teaching, thereby contributing to the advancement of translation and language teaching in Yemen.
