The English Language Unit, the nucleus of the Department of Language Teaching, was established upon the CCTLT’s founding in 2004. It draws its importance from in the worldwide recognition of English as the predominant Lingua Franca used in cultural and civilizational communication, commercial transactions, scientific endeavors, and technological advancements.
Initially, the Unit provided English language courses tailored for specific groups within the University staff. Over time, its services expanded to include a diverse range of courses targeting the professional development of public sector employees across different government entities and ministries within the Capital Secretariat (Sana’a city). Today, the English Language Unit stands as the largest unit within the Department of Language Teaching at the CCTLT, offering numerous programs and activities. It attracts thousands of students from various governorates of the Republic of Yemen, all seeking to pursue English language studies and obtain English Proficiency certificate as well as local TOEFL certification.

The program seeks to prepare and qualify outstanding outputs well-equipped with the necessary skills and expertise in English language both academically and professionally, enabling them to effectively address the demands of the labor market. This is achieved through offering high-quality and comprehensive educational programs, that utilize advanced scientific approaches and keep pace with the recent advancements in the age of globalization and digital transformation.

Providing learners/trainees with the required skills in reading, comprehension, and vocabulary building across diverse domains.
Equipping learners/trainees with conversational and debating skills in English to facilitate effective communication in different contexts.
Enhancing writing skills and correspondence among learners/trainees to enable them to utilize these skills in different contexts effectively.

Admission Requirements
Students aiming to enroll in the program must take a placement test to assess whether they meet the requirements for direct admission to the appropriate level according to the program study plan, then complete the required courses to reach level 5B and TOEFL preparation levels.
Program Activities
The English program at the CCTLT includes the following activities:
Enhancement of conversational and listening skills.
Review of advanced language structures.
Review of intermediate and advanced English grammar rules.
Engaging in conversations, mastering sentence structures, and learning expedited methods for writing and reading.
Reading academic articles accompanied by vocabulary and technical terminology usage tests.
Broadening general linguistic capabilities, including proficiency in vocabulary usage skills and essay writing.
Comprehensive review of TOEFL test samples and the efficient strategies for successful test completion.
Practice sessions involving sample TOEFL tests, and mock exams.
