French Language Unit

French is not only an official language of the United Nations but also one of the most widely spoken languages globally, boasting approximately 274 million speakers spread across various countries. It holds official status in at least 84 countries and governments that are members of the International Organization of French-speaking Countries (Francophonie). Moreover, French serves as a language of art, literature, science, philosophy, international commerce, business, and tourism.

Recognizing the significance of French, the French Language Unit was established at the Community Center for Translation & Language Teaching (CCTLT) during the academic year 2016/2017. Since its inception, the unit has instructed over 400 students in its program.  The French Unit offers multiple levels of French courses to suit individuals from all segments of Yemeni society. Many students enroll in the program with academic determinations, seeking the opportunity to pursue studies in French-speaking countries like France and Canada, etc. Additionally, numerous participants opt to learn French for professional, business, travel, and tourism purposes.

Given the importance of teaching French and the keen interest among students, the CCTLT has developed a distinctive program for teaching French. This program adheres to a modern and advanced curriculum that meets the requirements of the labor market, including the Version Originale textbook series and is taught by specialized and qualified staff, utilizing cutting-edge educational and communicative methods, resources, and technology.

French Diploma Program

The French Language Diploma at the CCTLT aims to impart comprehensive French language skills to students, encompassing writing, reading, listening, and speaking. Through advanced curriculum that keep pace with modern teaching methods, the program fosters an optimal learning environment facilitated by a distinguished teaching staff of extensive experience, enabling students to acquire and effectively use the French language in various contexts.

Emphasizing foundational aspects of the French language, such as grammar, vocabulary building, and reading comprehension, the program also focuses on enhancing students’ expressive and communicative abilities through both written and spoken forms.

In addition, various levels of instruction, ranging from beginner to intermediate and concluding in advanced proficiency, are offered through regular and intensive programs. The center also offers specialized courses targeting specific language skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing to further enhance students’ linguistic capabilities.

Upon successful completion of the program, students are conferred a diploma in the French language, enhancing their prospects for employment across international institutions, corporations, and organizations.
