Program Mission
The program seeks to prepare well-qualified graduates academically and professionally to meet the translation needs in Yemen and the region by providing them with the required knowledge and professional skills, through a stimulating learning environment that encourages creativity and enables them to experience various forms of translation and interpretation practices using appropriate resources and technology.
Program Aims
The Program intends to achieve the following:
To provide students with an up-to-date linguistic and intercultural awareness, of key concepts, theories, and recent trends in translation and interpretation;
To enhance students’ professional skills to produce high-quality and specialized translated texts in a range of genres and types.
To provide students with specialized training in various types of translation and interpreting activities, including the use of technology in translation and other related activities;
To promote an interest in multilingual and cross-cultural awareness and the study of translation in context through practical translation work;
To equip students with the knowledge and professional skills required for a career in translation, interpretation, and cross-cultural communication.
To equip students with the critical, analytic, and research skills required to address issues related to their areas of interest and prepare them for further studies.
Program Structure
The minimum number of credit hours or academic units required to obtain a Master’s degree in a specific field is (30) credit hours/academic units, with an additional (6) credit hours allocated for the thesis. The structure of the current program is set as follows:
