This program is a professional postgraduate diploma specializing in “English for Business Purposes (EBP),” comprising two academic semesters. It aims to teach students English language skills relevant to commerce and business. It seeks to help them develop communication skills in English—both writing and speaking—within the business context. The program covers many skills such as presentation techniques, negotiation strategies, meeting management, personal development, and other competencies related to commerce and business settings.

 

Program Aims: 

The main objectives of the program can be summarized as follows:

  • To prepare proficient graduates academically and professionally in business English, capable of meeting the demands of the labor market in areas such as business correspondence and English for finance and business purposes.

  • To provide students with English terminology related to finance and business, including vocabulary essential for effective communication in interviews, meetings, and negotiations.

  • To familiarize students with the principles of English report writing and train them on composing business letters, handling customer service inquiries, and performing secretarial tasks in English.

  • To equip students with written communication skills in English, enabling them to effectively draft emails, reports, and memos relevant to commerce and business.

  • To develop students’ proficiency in spoken and written English for marketing and promotion, including persuasive language and vocabulary related to market research, branding, and advertising.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:

 

  1. Possess a bachelor’s degree in business, economics, management, finance, banking, languages, or other relevant fields, and demonstrate a strong desire to enhance their English language skills for business purposes.

  2. Pass a competitive examination, which includes both written and oral components, with a minimum English language proficiency equivalent to the intermediate level.

  3. Unlike other postgraduate programs that typically require a “Good” grade or higher, this program accepts applicants with a “Pass” grade, provided they meet the English language proficiency requirement outlined in point 2 above.
