The Department of Operative Dentistry is committed to preparing and qualifying high-caliber dental graduates capable of providing outstanding medical service at international standards in diagnosis, treatment modalities, and relevant surgical interventions. It aims to foster a clinical, research, and academic educational environment aligned with local and regional quality assurance and accreditation standards, as well as community service.
1. Preparing qualified professional and academic cadres in the field of restorative and cosmetic dentistry, equipping them with diverse knowledge, skills, and expertise.
2. Developing and updating curricula and clinical research skills continuously in restorative and cosmetic dentistry education to meet societal needs.
3. Guiding postgraduate programs to educate and train students to become competent dentists capable of performing specialized and cosmetic interventions.
4. Upholding core values, traditions, and ethics in restorative and cosmetic dentistry practice while fostering self-learning skills.
This is a comprehensive three-year clinical master's program that encompasses advanced theoretical, preclinical, clinical, and research modules. The program is specifically designed to train dental graduates in advanced restorative and esthetic dentistry techniques. Candidates are equipped to perform complex, evidence-based clinical procedures and are trained in scientific research methodologies to complete and defend a graduation thesis.
The program seeks to train and qualify specialists to acquire advanced knowledge and skills in restorative and esthetic dentistry, enabling them to restore natural teeth and reinstate their optimal health, function, and aesthetics according to the highest professional standards.
1. Providing distinguished and integrated dental care to a wide range of patients utilizing conventional or complex treatment modalities.
2. Gaining clinical competence and confidence in practicing advanced restorative dentistry, endodontic treatments, and esthetic dentistry (composite restorations, root canal therapies, fixed prosthodontics, and dental implants) as complementary components to comprehensive dental care.
3. Communicating effectively with experienced professionals in the medical field and understanding modern organizational and healthcare management methods.
4. Acquiring proficiency in academic teaching and scientific research methodologies to advance clinical knowledge.
1. Passing all basic science subjects and core courses with the required passing grades.
2. Completing clinical training successfully and meeting the minimum clinical competency standards.
3. Submitting and defending a master's thesis based on the approved research project.
The Ph.D. program in Restorative and Esthetic Dentistry at the Faculty of Dentistry, Sana'a University, is the pioneering program of its kind in Yemen. The Faculty established this doctoral program in alignment with its strategic development and quality improvement plans, as well as to meet the aspirations of master’s degree holders seeking advanced higher education. The program is designed to enhance candidates' capabilities in scientific research methodologies and clinical trials, equipping them to become specialized consultants in restorative and esthetic dentistry or to pursue careers in university-level education. The program duration spans 3 to 4 years.
The Ph.D. program in Restorative and Esthetic Dentistry is dedicated to preparing specialized consultants with advanced theoretical, clinical, and research expertise. It empowers graduates to deliver high-quality restorative and therapeutic interventions utilizing the latest technological advancements. This is achieved through a distinguished faculty, active research teams, and a competitive educational environment that fosters creativity and innovation, meets labor market demands, and actively serves local and regional communities.
1. Equipping students with critical scientific thinking and analytical skills regarding the etiology, prevention, and management of oral and dental diseases, while mastering complex clinical and therapeutic interventions.
2. Qualifying candidates to conduct independent, innovative scientific research and actively engage in academic teaching and education.
3. Fostering habits of continuous self-directed learning in both applied and research-based fields of restorative and esthetic dentistry.
4. Providing students with profound foundational knowledge in surgical, medical, and applied sciences relevant to restorative and esthetic dentistry.
1. Completing and defending a clinical doctoral thesis in the field of Restorative and Esthetic Dentistry.
2. Conducting a departmental seminar prior to scheduling the formal thesis defense.
3. Publishing at least one research paper in a peer-reviewed local journal.
4. Publishing at least one research paper in a peer-reviewed, internationally indexed journal.
