Faculty of Engineering | SU
The Department of Architecture was established in 1987 and is located within the Faculty of Engineering at Sana'a University's main campus. Over the years, the Department has experienced significant growth and has become one of the principal contributors to the education and preparation of architectural engineers for the Yemeni labor market.
The Department's graduates are distinguished by their strong academic foundation, creativity, and professional competence, earning a prominent reputation in both local and regional architectural practice. The Department currently offers an undergraduate program leading to the Bachelor of Architecture, as well as postgraduate programs leading to the Master's and Doctoral degrees in Architecture. Students enrolled in the undergraduate program are awarded the Bachelor of Architecture upon the successful completion of 169 credit hours. The program provides a comprehensive and integrated educational experience by developing students' understanding of the complex relationships between buildings and their surrounding natural, social, and built environments.
The rapid advancement of architectural theory, construction technologies, and building materials requires architects, designers, and engineers to possess the ability to solve complex problems, adapt to technological innovations, and respond effectively to the evolving demands of the construction industry. Architects must also serve as a vital link among the various disciplines involved in the building process. Accordingly, the Department is committed to educating and training architects and designers who are capable of understanding both buildings and their surrounding contexts while acquiring the technical, analytical, and professional skills necessary to address contemporary architectural challenges and meet the demands of an evolving profession and a dynamic architectural market.
The first batch graduated from the Department of Architecture in 1991. Currently, the department admits an average of 100 students annually, with an average graduation rate of 90 students per year.
