Bachelor of Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Sana'a University, is one of the oldest and most prominent engineering departments at the university. It plays a pivotal role in preparing qualified engineering personnel capable of contributing to the planning, design, execution, and management of various infrastructure projects.
The department offers academic programs for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees in Civil Engineering. Through these programs, it aims to equip students with scientific knowledge and advanced applied skills in the fields of structural engineering, soil mechanics and foundation engineering, highway and transportation engineering, water and sanitation engineering, surveying, and engineering project management.
Furthermore, the department focuses on integrating theoretical and practical aspects through academic curricula, engineering laboratories, and scientific research. This integration contributes to preparing qualified graduates and researchers capable of meeting labor market demands and actively participating in achieving sustainable development and serving the community.

Aims

1. Providing a high-quality educational experience through advanced undergraduate and graduate programs in all branches of civil engineering.
2. Applying quality assurance standards with the aim of obtaining academic (local, regional, and international) accreditation.
3. Serving the community and meeting labor market needs by providing technical consultations, conducting scientific research, performing laboratory testing, and offering training services.

Master of Engineering Project Management

The Engineering Project Management program is a mixed program that offers courses and research for a duration of up to three years. The program exposes students to the project management industry standards and prepares them to successfully plan, manage, and execute engineering projects. It also provides students with research insights and the ability to perform research in the field of engineering project management.

Vision

To graduate distinguished Master's holders in the field of engineering project management through a strong academic program, qualified staff, and suitable research infrastructure that meet local development requirements and regional labor market needs.

Aims

1. To develop students who understand project management methods and tools, and are able to employ them in the planning and execution of projects.
2. To bridge the gap between the academic and industrial and technological environments.
3. To provide graduates who are able to document and communicate, using oral and written presentations, project plans and results.
4. To provide graduates with up-to-date advanced knowledge and skills needed to plan, manage, and execute projects successfully.
5. To graduate researchers in engineering project management who can pursue further studies and research contributing to the scientific research community.
6. To provide graduates able to effectively contribute to the engineering project management profession by applying ethical practices and communication skills, sharing innovative and clear ideas, and pursuing further education through lifelong learning.

Master of Highways and Traffic Engineering

This program is designed to provide in-depth theoretical knowledge and research in the highways and traffic engineering field. Courses encompass the core courses and electives, which mainly focus on urban transportation planning, advanced traffic engineering, advanced geometric design of highway structures, advanced flexible & rigid pavement, and airport design and planning.

To graduate well-qualified postgraduate students in the field of highways and traffic engineering and research through a qualified academic program, staff, and suitable infrastructure that meet the development requirements as well as local and regional labor markets.

Aims

1- To provide specialized studies and encourage fundamental and applied research in different highways and traffic engineering disciplines.
2- To bridge the gap between the academic educational and industrial and technological environment.
3- To provide graduates with up-to-date advanced knowledge and skills needed to create high-quality systems, attain excellence in highways and traffic engineering, and solve the technical problems and challenges in the highways construction industry and management.
4- To contribute effectively to the highways and traffic engineering profession by applying ethical practices and communication skills, sharing innovative and clear ideas, and pursuing further education through lifelong learning
5- To graduate researchers in highways and traffic engineering disciplines who can pursue further studies and contribute to the scientific research community.

Master of Structural Engineering

This program is designed to provide in-depth theoretical knowledge and research in the structural engineering field. Courses encompass the core courses and electives, which mainly focus on structural behavior, analysis, and design of different structural systems.

To be a distinguished postgraduate program in education & scientific research in structural engineering, locally and regionally.

3. To provide graduates with up-to-date advanced knowledge and skills needed to create high-quality systems, attain excellence in structural engineering, and solve technical problems and challenges in the structural industry.

Master of Water and Environmental Engineering

This program will specialize the civil engineer in Water and Environmental Engineering. Water and Environmental Engineering is a mixed program offering courses and research for a duration of up to three years. The program exposes students to water quality control, water treatment and distribution, wastewater treatment and networks, environmental engineering, hydrology, hydraulics, climate change, water structures and dams, irrigation structures and methods, etc. It also provides students with research insights and the ability to perform research in the field of Water and Environmental Engineering.
