The Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) Program is an academic program designed to equip students with the knowledge, clinical competencies, and professional skills required for the practice of medicine and surgery. The program provides a comprehensive study of the structure and function of the human body, as well as the various diseases that affect human health. It also emphasizes the development of clinical and diagnostic skills necessary for accurate disease diagnosis and the provision of effective, evidence-based treatment, preparing graduates to deliver high-quality healthcare services in accordance with professional and ethical standards.
The Medicine and Surgery Program at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Sana'a University, is committed to graduating competent doctors in various fields of primary health care in line with the requirements of the labour market locally, regionally and internationally, and developing scientific research skills and continuous learning in a way that contributes to community service while adhering to professional ethics.
1. Acquiring a core body of basic contemporary scientific knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential for the practice of medicine.
2. Focusing on various areas of primary health care ailments.
3. Applying patient safety and infection control measures during practice.
4. Functioning independently and effectively on multidisciplinary teams of health care professionals whose members create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
5. Demonstrating awareness and participation in different social and community aspects of health care.
6. Acquiring appropriate ethical professional skills necessary for dealing with patients, their families, and colleagues.
7. Communicating effectively with patients, their families, and other health care professionals.
8. Evaluating and managing common diseases and emergencies properly by applying diagnostic, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
9. Identifying own professional limits and seeking appropriate consultation from other health care professionals when needed.
10. Engaging in life-long learning with an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed.
11. Applying effectively proper research methodologies, as well as planning and conducting high-quality and multidisciplinary scientific research related to medical practice.
