Center Overview CHRP

The center was established by virtue of University President’s Decision No. (565) of 2007. The center seeks to graduate qualified scientific competencies capable of practicing work in the field of human rights at a high level of quality and proficiency and contributing to the development of society.

Scientific and Research Functions: The Center offers a distinctive program in human rights and public opinion measurement based on regional and international benchmarks. It aims to equip researchers with essential knowledge and meet the needs of local and international institutions. In addition, the Center provides community awareness courses, consulting services, and conducts specialized studies reflecting the realities of Yemeni society, alongside supplying the community with qualified personnel through Master's programs.

Leadership and excellence in the field of human rights academically, through research, and in community engagement, at the local and regional levels, by promoting human rights culture and raising awareness of rights and freedoms, producing knowledge and specialized studies, providing legal advice and assistance, and developing qualified scientific and professional cadres capable of contributing to the protection and promotion of human rights, serving the community, and achieving sustainable development.

The Center is dedicated to advancing human rights, promoting human rights concepts and culture, assessing the status of human rights, and providing legal advice and assistance to various segments of society and institutions concerned with human rights. The Center also seeks to measure public opinion by providing information and preparing specialized studies. The center also seeks to graduate qualified scientific talents capable of practicing human rights work at a high level of quality and proficiency and contributing to the development of society.

Building a community human rights culture based on respect for human rights.

Studying human rights issues in the community in coordination with relevant institutions and organizations.

Conducting accurate scientific measurements of public opinion trends on various issues of concern to society, foremost of which are human rights issues.

Master’s Program in Human Rights

The Center for Human Rights and Public Opinion Polling offers a distinctive program in human rights and public opinion measurement. The program aims to equip researchers with the necessary knowledge and skills in this specialized field, while meeting the demands of local and international institutions and organizations for graduates in this discipline. It leverages the Center’s expertise and its highly qualified academic faculty to graduate specialized researchers in human rights and public opinion. Furthermore, the program has been developed in alignment with recognized regional and international benchmarks.

Master’s Program Aims
  • To introduce students to the theories, concepts, and basic applications related to human rights.
  • To equip students with the essential skills to practice human rights activities efficiently and effectively.
  • To develop students’ capacity regarding the application of human rights frameworks locally, regionally, and internationally.
  • To prepare researchers capable of conducting theoretical and applied research in the field of human rights and public opinion measurement.
  • To develop students’ abilities to identify research problems and to address them scientifically and methodologically.
  • To connect the University with various community institutions by identifying their problems and providing scientific solutions to them.
  • To provide the labor market with highly qualified cadres who are capable of achieving better results.
  • To provide an opportunity for students who wish to continue their graduate studies in the field of human rights.
Admission Requirements
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree from a recognized university with a minimum GPA of “Good” (65%).
  • The applicant must submit original graduation documents (graduation certificate + transcript) along with certified copies. If the documents are obtained from outside Yemen, they must be authenticated by the relevant authorities and attested by the Ministry of Higher Education. The original copy and a certified copy of the attestation must be submitted.
  • A copy of the ID card (for Yemenis) and a copy of the passport and residence permit (for non-Yemenis).
  • Recent passport-size photographs (4×6) with white background (12 photos).
  • The applicant should apply for the admission file, complete the application form at the Graduate Studies Office and pay the required tuition fees.
