A Seminar for PhD Dissertation Proposal of Ms. Ahlam Al-Shami

Sana’a, Yemen – On Sunday, September 14, 2025, corresponding to 22 Rabi’ al-Awwal 1447 Hijri, Department of English Language in Faculty of Languages hosted a public academic seminar to present the PhD dissertation proposal submitted by postgraduate candidate Ms.Ahlam Mohammed Ali Al-Shami.
The seminar was held as part of her application to the PhD programme in the department. Her proposed dissertation is titled: “Tongues of Wars and Echoes of Ideology: A Comparative Political Discourse Analysis of Presidential Rhetoric in the 2023 Ga-za War.”
During the session, the candidate presented a comprehensive overview of her dissertation plan. She presented the research problem and the main and sub-objectives of her dissertation. She also detailed the methodology, materials, and working methods she intends to follow to carry out her research.
Members of academic staff then provided their expert feedback on the proposal and the dissertation title. They offered valuable comments and recommendations to refine the dissertation plan and ensure its successful execution, with the aim of achieving the desired outcomes.
At the end of the session, the proposal was approved, and the candidate was given specific guidance to consider while conducting her study.
The session was attended by Dr. Abbas Mutahar, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, and Dr. Abdulwadud Annuzaili, Head of the Department, as well as a number of faculty members from both the English and Translation departments. The event also drew an audience of postgraduate students, and the seminar was marked by positive engagement and fruitful academic enrichment.
