Faculty of Languages Commences Semi-Finals for “Art of Recitation and Theatrical Performances/Skits” Competition

The semi-final rounds of the “Art of Recitation and Theatrical Performances/Skits” competition, organized by the Department of Translation at the Faculty of Languages, commenced today, Tuesday, November 11, 2025. This event is part of the faculty’s student activities aimed at enhancing oral communication skills and creative performance among undergraduate students.
The competition aims to empower students to perform literary texts and short theatrical scenes (skits) in a way that demonstrates:
- Deep comprehension of the text.
- Clear articulation and correct pronunciation.
- Effective delivery (elocution).
- Expressive vocal and physical communication.
- Enhanced self-confidence and public speaking ability.
The competitors were trained and their performances assessed by Dr. Mujeeb Qasim and Assoc. Prof. Ebrahim Taggaddin, with Dr. Eman Al-Mahdi also joining the evaluation panel for the semi-finals. During the session, students presented their performances to the committee, and the finalists were selected to proceed to the final stage of the competition.
Judges’ Commendation
The judging panel members praised the outstanding level demonstrated by the participants, acknowledging the creative imagination and sophisticated literary and artistic performance they exhibited. They emphasized that such activities contribute significantly to:
