Faculty of Languages Hosts Semifinals of the Storytelling and Public Speaking Competition

Department of Translation at the Faculty of Languages held the semifinal round of the Storytelling and Public Speaking Competition on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. The event forms part of the department’s student-activity program to strengthen communication skills, broaden imagination, and foster creativity and persuasive speaking through structured, audience-centered performances.
The competition aims to build students’ confidence and practical public-speaking skills while training them to present ideas clearly and persuasively in academic and professional settings. Participants received coaching and were evaluated by Dr. Mujeeb Qasem and Dr. Ibraheem Tajaddeen, with Dr. Eman Al-Mahdi joining the semifinal judging panel.
During the session, students presented storytelling and speech topics that demonstrated notable language proficiency, creativity, and stage presence. The judges praised contestants for their eloquence, vocal control, and engaging delivery, and selected the top performers to advance to the final round. They also emphasized that such activities help uncover student talent, strengthen critical thinking and expressive abilities, and develop confident, articulate future leaders.
The competition is part of the Department of Translation’s ongoing initiatives to refine students’ linguistic and presentation skills, foster literary and cultural awareness, and prepare graduates to communicate with clarity and impact across diverse fields.
