Translation Department Launches First Issue of ‘ Translation Journal’ Alongside Fourth Annual Festival

Translation Department at the Faculty of Languages, Sana’a University, has announced the launch of the inaugural issue of “Translation Journal”. This academic milestone coincides with the opening of the Faculty’s Fourth Annual Translation Festival, held throughout November 2025. This initiative reflects the department’s commitment to advancing scientific research and strengthening the role of translation as a vital tool for cultural and intellectual communication.

The first issue was published under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Mujeeb Ali Qasim, Head of the Department and Editor-in-Chief. The journal was supported by an editorial board comprising a selection of distinguished faculty members, in addition to the technical efforts of the design, layout, and public relations teams. This collective effort underscores the department’s dedication to boosting scholarly output and highlighting the essential role of translation in serving both the university and the wider community.

The issue features a diverse collection of peer-reviewed research papers, specialized articles in the fields of translation, linguistic and cultural studies, as well as intellectual topics and critical reviews. It also includes outstanding student contributions that reflect the academic growth of the department’s students.

The journal covered key workshops and academic activities held during the semester and addressed contemporary topics, most notably:

• Employing Artificial Intelligence in Translation.
• Translation in the Context of Cultural Hegemony.
• Translation in Literature and Resistance

The Translation Department  emphasized that the launch of the journal is a pioneering step toward institutionalizing the culture of scientific research within the department. It provides an academic platform for publishing the work of researchers and students, thereby serving the academic development trajectory and enhancing the success of the annual Translation Festival.

The launch of this journal marks the beginning of a future series of issues through which the department seeks to enrich Translation Studies, encourage scientific research, and bolster the university’s role in contributing to intellectual content and community service.
