Department of Translation Finalizes Preparations for Fourth Level Students Graduation Projects Defenses

The Department of Translation at the Faculty of Languages, Sana’a University, has completed final preparations for the senior graduation projects defenses. This initiative underscores the department’s commitment to academic excellence and the continuous improvement of its educational outcomes.
Under the supervision of Dr. Abdulwahab Al-Maqaleh, Associate Professor of Literature and Translation, and Dr. Mohammed Al-Aqili, Associate Professor of Translation, the department is overseeing diverse research and translation projects prepared by 84 students. These projects reflect a high level of academic rigor and professional dedication.
Assoc. Prof. Mujeeb Ali Qasim, Head of the Translation Department, stated that the graduation projects encompass both theoretical and applied aspects of translation. The scope of work includes:
- Translating contemporary books on translation theory and studies published in peer-reviewed journals.
- Translating technical manuals, guides, and specialized scientific documents.
- Projects involving dubbing and subtitling for documentaries focused on national and humanitarian issues.
- Translating international novels and exploring the nuances of Yemeni cultural terminology.
In line with global shifts in the industry, the projects also delve into cutting-edge topics such as Machine Translation (MT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications.
The Head of the Department emphasized that these projects embody the department’s vision to keep pace with scientific and technological advancements. By bridging the gap between academic study and the evolving demands of the cultural, intellectual, and professional job markets, the department continues to prepare its graduates for success in a globalized world.
