Admission

Faculty of Languages, Sana’a University

Brief Overview of Admission to Faculty of Languages

Sana’a University Council annually approves the application and admission policy, guided by recommendations from the faculty councils and Student Affairs Council. This policy is then endorsed by the Supreme Council of Yemeni Universities, outlining the specific conditions, rules, and requirements for admission, necessary documentation, application and admission timelines, capacities, and proportions of the General, Parallel and Private Expense Systems.

Within the Faculty of Languages, student admission rates and accommodation capacity are initially determined by the departmental councils. Each department, considering its resources and teaching staff members, establishes appropriate admission rates and accommodation capacity for both the General Education System and the Private Expense System, which are currently operational in the Faculty. These proposals are subsequently presented to the Faculty Council for deliberation and approval before being forwarded to the Student Affairs Council at the University Presidency.

Following the endorsement of admission rates, accommodation capacity, and admission requirements by the Supreme Council of Yemeni Universities, the application, admission, and registration processes will be conducted through the online portal (https://oasyemen.net). Here, students will choose a university (Sana’a University), a faculty (Faculty of Languages), and then enter their high school examination ID number, total score and graduation year. (Note: The total score, not the average grade, is to be entered) in accordance with the average grade and admission requirements approved by the University’s Application and Admission Committee for the Faculty’s study systems (General Education System & Private Expense System) for each academic year.

In any of the Faculty’s study systems, a student selects the specific department to which they wish to apply through the portal. Subsequently, a financial portfolio is generated from the University’s online portal, detailing the fees for the entrance exam, which must be paid by the applicant. Upon payment, as indicated on the payment slip, the applicant gains eligibility to sit for the entrance exam. It is important to note that settling this financial portfolio is mandatory for admission. If the number of applicants surpasses the accommodation capacity allocated for a particular department, an entrance exam will be conducted to determine the admitted students. However, if the number of applicants falls below the department’s capacity, all applicants will be admitted directly without the need for an entrance exam.

The majors offered in the Faculty of Languages are administered by the following departments:
