Program Aims
- Achieving a sophisticated understanding of scientific principles within linguistic, literary and critical heritage, along with modern linguistic fields and modern critical methodologies.
- Introducing modern critical methodologies and linguistic theories, elucidating their intellectual underpinnings, and discerning their unique attributes and distinctions.
- Providing students with research skills, empowering them to undertake specialized research projects according to academic regulations and standards.
- Laying the groundwork for cumulative academic progress and promoting the fundamentals of scholarly research.
Program Mission
To prepare competent researchers in linguistics – along with its diverse schools, emerging trends, successful methodologies, and literary studies – empowering them to conduct cutting-edge research in linguistic, literary, and critical studies, contributing to enriching Arab culture and advancing human knowledge, utilizing scientific thinking skills, and solidifying academic values in scientific research.

Given the program aims to prepare graduates with diverse qualifications, including in-depth knowledge, research work, and Arabic language instruction, the components of the Arabic language Program are outlined as follows:
- Cultural Component: This component focuses on reinforcing community culture and cultivating essential skills, such as communication and information technology proficiency.
- Language Skills Component: It includes the cognitive abilities fundamental to specialized knowledge in the fields of literature, criticism, and methodologies.
- Vocational Component: It lies emphasis on equipping students with comprehensive professional knowledge and skills relevant to language analysis and teaching practices within their field of specialization.

Admission Requirements for the Program:
Determination of the program admission requirements will only specify the conditions that are not outlined in the unified regulations for graduate studies and their executive rules at Sana’a University.
To be considered for admission, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with a minimum average grade of “Good”.
- Applicants are required to fulfill the application and admission requirements endorsed by the Vice Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at Sana’a University.
- Applicants must successfully pass an entrance exam with a minimum score of 65%.
Graduation Requirements:
Graduation requirements should be specified accurately and clearly, and the following guidelines can be utilized:
To successfully complete the pre-master year, a student must:
- Pass all courses with a minimum overall grade of 70%.
- Attend at least 70% of all lectures.
Graduate Attributes:
To instill the following qualities in graduates who have successfully completed the introductory year in Literature and Criticism:
- Well-versed in their specialization and able to engage in creative work and development.
- Able to engage in discussions on diverse issues and questions arising in literary or linguistic studies, spanning both ancient and modern contexts.
- Able to differentiate between linguistic and literary approaches, employing scholarly research methods and manuscript analysis in their academic pursuits.
- Charismatic inclined towards self-development, continuous improvement, and generation of knowledge relevant to the national identity and cultural heritage.
