Public MA Viva-Voce Examination of Ms. Eshraq Mohammed Ali Dahan
The Public Viva-Voce Examination for the MA Thesis hereto entitled, Needs Analysis for the ESP Course of Undergraduate Engineering Students at Sana’a University, Yemen, submitted by Ms. Eshraq Mohammed Ali Dahan, Department of English ,Faculty of Languages, was held on Thursday, 25/6/1446 Hijri corresponding to 26/12/2024. The study aimed to identify the main components of the ESP course taught to them, assess and highlight the main essential components according to ESP teachers and Engineers.
The study concluded with a number of findings, including that Reading is the most important skill for ESP students from which they can improve their knowledge in their majors and students of ESP have to know how to differentiate between meanings of their terms while using dictionaries.
The researcher made several recommendations, including that teachers of ESP have to focus more on including terms of Civil Engineering in their courses, help students use specific dictionaries and give students more opportunities to practice their terms in context.
The MA thesis has been examined and is recommended by the Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance and approval. The Candidate was recommended to be awarded the degree of Master majoring in Applied Linguistics an overall grade of 95% Excellent.
The viva was attended by academics, researchers, students, and other interested individuals, including the researcher’s colleagues and family members.
