Public PhD Viva-Voce Examination of Mr. Murad Jameel Saeed Saleh
The Public Viva-Voce Examination for the PhD Dissertation entitled, “The Biosynthesis of Silver and Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticles and Study the Antibacterial Activity against some Multi-drug Resistence Pathogenic Bacteria In Dhamar City – Yemen”, submitted by Mr. Murad Jameel Saeed Saleh, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, was held on Monday 29/02/1446 Hijri corresponding to 02/09/2024. The Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following: Main supervisor
# | Committee Members | Designation | University | Position |
1 | Prof. Ameen Al-Asbahi | External Examiner | Amran University | Chair |
2 | Prof. Saeed Monasar Al-Ghalbi | Main supervisor | Sana’a University | Member |
3 | Prof. Qais Yousef Mohammed Abdullah | Internal examiner | Sana’a University | Member |
The study aimed to biosynthesize silver and titanium dioxide nanoparticles by a mixture of Lactobacillus and Bacillus bacteria growth;
- Evaluate the antibacterial effectiveness of silver and titanium dioxide nanoparticles against pathogenic bacteria
- Evaluate the synergy between silver and titanium dioxide nanoparticles with antibiotics against multi-drug resistance pathogenic
The study reached a number of results, including that the biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles and titanium dioxide using a mixture of Lactobacillus and Bacillus bacteria growth was faster and more effective than using each type of bacteria separately. A clear synergy emerged between silver nanoparticles and antibiotics of multi-drug resistance bacteria. The study came out with a number of recommendations, including conducting future research in various Yemeni governorates using two or more types of bacteria or other microorganisms for the biosynthesis of nanoparticles, due to their effectiveness compared to using one type of microorganism. Academic members, researchers, students, interested parties and the researcher’s colleagues and family members attended the viva.
The dissertation was examined and recommended by the Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance and approval. Then, the Candidate was recommended to be awarded the degree of Doctor of Science majoring in Microbiology.
