The Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine Program at Sana’a University represents a pioneering and specialized academic pathway designed in accordance with the highest standards of quality and academic accreditation to prepare veterinarians with outstanding scientific knowledge and professional competencies. The program is founded on the integration of in-depth theoretical education and intensive field training. Its curriculum covers the diagnosis and treatment of various animal diseases, veterinary surgery, animal reproduction and breeding, health inspection and control of foods of animal origin, as well as the prevention and control of zoonotic diseases to promote public health. The study plan leading to the degree extends over five years (ten academic semesters), during which students successfully complete 195 credit hours distributed across 65 courses. The program is further supported by mandatory summer training during the summer breaks of the third, fourth, and fifth years, ensuring that graduates acquire modern diagnostic and research skills that enable them to compete effectively in the labor market and contribute actively to the protection of animal resources and the achievement of food security.
The veterinary medicine program seeks to graduate veterinarians with the aim of meeting the needs and requirements of society; actively contributing to the development of livestock of all kinds, poultry, and fish; and preserving the environment and public health.
1. Preparing veterinarians who are capable of fulfilling the market’s needs and competing locally and in the Arab world.
2. Preparing veterinarians who are capable of establishing and managing animal health facilities and various livestock husbandry projects.
3. Preparing veterinarians who are capable of diagnosing and treating animal diseases appropriately and performing all necessary surgical operations.
4. Working to protect livestock, improve animal production, and develop appropriate solutions to livestock problems in Yemen.
5. Developing and promoting scientific research and following up on recent scientific developments in the field of veterinary medicine.
6. Organizing specialized scientific seminars and conferences in the veterinary fields that serve the labor market.
