Phenotypic Characterization of Skeletal Class III Malocclusion via Three Dimensional Analysis in a Selected Group of Yemeni Population

This Master’s thesis aims at characterizing class III malocclusion subgroups based on the phenotypic characteristics using the three dimensional radiograph in a selected group of the Yemeni population and detecting the difference between gender.
The study comes out with results and key findings: The Phenotypic Characterization Analysis reveals 8 axis models responsible for 78.9% of the variation of data produced from 74 variables. The first four components accounted for 56% of the total variations, explained mainly the sagittal, dental parameters, vertical linear and anterio-posterior relationships. The CA reveal four skeletal class III malocclusion phenotypes: Class 1, 32.8%, C2, 28.4%, C3, 28.4%%, and C4, 10.4%.
Conclusions: Based on the three-dimensional analysis, four phenotypes of skeletal class III malocclusion are identified amongst the Yemeni population. Sub-phenotypes of the Yemeni Skeletal Class III individuals are significantly varied between genders.
The researcher presents a number of recommendations at the end of this dissertation, of which: it is important to conducting future studies on a larger number of Class III malocclusion cases.
